Johnny James Wilson
open letter to all of you who follow me and to tumblr:

I, for one, am getting very sick of getting Error Uploading Photo every time I try to post something. At first it was a minor annoyance, but it’s gotten to the point now where it becomes a major inconvenience for me to just share a single photo which is a shame because I’d like to think of myself as something of a original contributor. Heaven knows there’s enough of you out there in the tumblrverse who post photos from weheartit or flickr (and thanks to those of you who do post photos from flickr and take the time to credit the original contributor, because those flickr users with premium will know that you have posted a photo of theirs if they have stats enabled and it always makes me feel good about my photography if somebody else can dig it too, anyway I digress…) that just pick pictures you like and post them which is fine if that’s what you want your blog to be i’m happy with that idea too as long as when the chips are down you are happy to admit that it isn’t your own photography because taking credit for someone else’s work is not cool right kids? Anyway as I was saying that’s cool but i’d always wanted my tumbleblog to be my way to open up my photos to a wider audience. I’m a big flickr fan, but when it comes to photography (and especially niche photography like lomography that I mainly shoot) mine seems to garner the most interest from tumblr users. When sharing said photography on tumblr starts to become borderline impossible, I start to lose patience with the website in general and in all honesty, lose the motivation to even share my photos in the first place.

I guess the long and short of what i’m saying is, what should be a 10 minute to perhaps 1 hour job is turning into a 2 hour or 3 hour job just because of technical issue’s that I’m struggling to find a solution to, and I’ve finally reached the end of my patience with this ‘error uploading photo’ bullshit, so I think I’m going to stop posting my photos on here.

I’ll probably change my mind about this when I get some new prints back, but at the moment, I pure cannot be bothered to put up with tumblr’s bullshit for the time being so uh yeah, just gonna whine that a totally free service that I pay nothing towards maintaining is not performing to my expectations. I’m probably not on my own with this criticism, i’ve noticed a few of the blogs I started following when I signed up have either stopped posting anything for nearly 12 months or vanished off the internet completely so maybe i’m not the only one?

Whatever.

xxxxjjw.

Edit: I should probably say that i’m still gonna post the handful of 30 day lomo challenge photos that I have left… :).
