Frankie Boyle - My Shit Life So Far - an update
I’m sorry guys but this is probably the best book I’ve ever read!? I don’t think i’ve ever enjoyed a book quite as much as this (except maybe American Psycho but that was a different kind of enjoyment you know?) or tittered to myself like a four year old so much before. Frankie is a great writer and I say that in all seriousness because it must have been really fucking hard...

Frankie Boyle - My Shit Life So Far
I’ve started reading this. It’s certainly amusing, i’ve been giggling like a little schoolgirl who just… well whatever, anyway it’s really good and there’s a lot of things Frankie says that I can really empathize with (i’m not sure if that’s worrying or not…) I can’t remember the exact quote but he says he sort of distanced himself from...

Catcher In The Rye
I finished this last night whilst on the way back from Birmingham. It’s been… okay, I haven’t enjoyed it as much as some of the other things I’ve read but it’s not a terrible book. I liked the ending? I can’t quite understand why it’s hailed as such a classic but I suppose, the way it’s written, was like revoltutionary at the time. But yeah it was...

just finished putting together my first lomokino “film” from my first test roll. It looks shitty on the account that I panned the camera quicker than I was turning the hand crank and wasn’t aiming it properly at the swan I was filming but I still think it’s awesome. Hahah! I’ve got another test roll to break down into frames, then i’m gonna put the two together...

‘Good as gold’
Love this!!
a-lackof-understanding asked: you take really great photos! :D
¬_¬
got one of my lomokino films back but Jessops ‘centre of excellence’ in Birmingham did a poor job of scanning the film to CD (in thier defence there is 4 exposures per single 35mm frame but how hard can it be? I dont know…) anyway, i’ve got one other film to get sorted from my test shooting with the ‘kino, then i’ll spend about 8 hours manually editing and...
sorry but,
GUIZE.
Lomography Birmingham opens its uhh… floor space… on the 23rd January. We are going to be on the Spirit level (level 2) of Selfridges which is the same level as Topman, American Apparel, The piercing place who’s name I can’t remember right now… uh, some other super trendy clothes concessions. It’s gonna be fun, come and wave your arms in front of me and...
can you guys in the States actually get disposable cell phones?!
I haven’t read any of Catcher In The Rye since I got made redundant, I should really finish it before I start my new job…
Film is not dead, and neither is Kodak. →

A reassuring read :).

The Kino Goes Vertigo
Say you want to make a movie starring your statuesque friend, or maybe feature jawdropping skyscrapers in your LomoKino movie. Why not flip your camera and shoot vertically?
pure awesome.

today I went to a ‘staff appraisal’ at Selfridges, it was alright. Got to meet two of my lomo colleagues and they we’re both pretty cool people :). If I haven’t mentioned it yet we open on the 23rd January on the ‘Spirit’ level (Level uh…2 I think?) come say hello!!

Taken from Frank-Turner.com - Happy 2012!
“The first thing that I did with my year was spend some time in a rehearsal room with Matt Nasir (Sleeping Souls) and Ben Dawson (Million Dead), kicking around some ideas for a hardcore / noiserock project that I’ve been mentioning from time to time for a while now. Well, we’ve already had a lot of fun and made some horrid noises, and hopefully we’ll have some time to record something...

Made a whopping £1.88 profit on my online saver account in the last 12 months. My little empire is developing slowly but surely ;). Next year it will be £3.76 and then £7.52 and then £15.04 and then… well you get the idea.

So uh, i’m pretty pleased to say that i’m gonna be part of the team at the new Lomography store in Selfridges, Birmingham (thats UK, not Alabama - for everyone who follows me in America…) and that’s about all I know! Haha! But no, for serious, it’s gonna be awesome. And you can expect me to go on about it quite alot on here!

Yo. Happy New Year y’all. Cheers for still following me, hope I can stay interesting enough for you all to still be here in 12 months time, but for the mean time, hope you all get incredibly drunk and do things you end up regretting 24 hours from now. That’s what NYE is all about! Happy new year! Xxxxjw

My Top 5 Albums of 2011 - Number #1
The Black Keys - El Camino
El Camino is the seventh album from The Black Keys released in December on Nonesuch Records, and is co-produced by Danger Mouse. Brothers, although I didn’t mention it in my Top 10 of 2010 has grown to be one of my favourite albums of all time and I couldn’t wait to hear El Camino when it came out and although it’s a real good album, it’s not...

Foster The People - Torches
Torches is the debut record from Foster The People released on Columba Records in the UK. Arguably the best album released this year the band, initially a solo project of Mark Foster, has developed into something between an indie rock and a synth pop dancefloor band and their sound is quite difficult to pigeon hole. Pretty much the entire world has heard Pumped Up...

My Top 5 Albums of 2011 - Number #3
Bombay Bicycle Club - A Different Kind Of Fix
‘Fix’ is the third album from Bombay Bicycle Club, and if you’ve been following me for the past 3 years you’ll know how much I like them. Their debut was my favourite album of 2009 and the second album, the acoustic record was my number 2 (topped only by Delphic’s debut). Their 3rd record represents yet another...

My Top 5 Albums of 2011 - Number #4
Thrice - Major / Minor
If Beggars represented the completion of Thrice’s transition into an Alternative rock band, then Major / Minor exists to complete that legacy. An extremely solid album that in my opinion, lacks slightly in lyrical content when compared to it’s predecessor but makes up for it with extremely tight songwriting. Unfortunately I haven’t been able to listen to...
